Vicky Echeverri - Bio (English)

What do recording artists: Nelly Furtado, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Cristian
Castro, Thalía, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Fernández, Christina Aguilera,Jaci Velásquez, Chayanne, David Bisbal, Olga Tañón, Jon Secada, Víctor Manuelle, Isabel Pantoja, Ednita Nazario, Pilar Montenegro, Julio Iglesias and Rocío Dúrcal have in common? They have all used the dazzling voice and talent of Vicky Echeverri in their musical productions.

The Colombian songstress has collaborated with these artists and is ready to take the recording world by storm with her latest album. Vicky’s passion for music runs through her veins, as her grandmother was a distinguished singer, pianist and music teacher. She encouraged Vicky to develop her gifted voice, and it paid off years later as she would be featured in songs and musical productions by world-renowned music producers: Emilio Estefan, Kike Santander, Rudy Pérez, Estefano and Julio Reyes, among others.

These top artists and producers have been her most loyal fans, supporting and encouraging her to take the next step in her musical career: the launching of her first solo album. This is how “Ficha de Ajedrez” was born; from the need to release this brilliant singer-songwriter’s voice, which has been admired and praised by many artists, to the world.

Born in Cali, Colombia, she relocated to Miami, Florida where she currently resides; this talented musician has immersed herself in her music: singing, composing and performing in order to express her innermost thoughts and feelings.

She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering as a gift to her parents and to put their minds at ease. But her soul was longing to be a different type of engineer: the type that strictly deals with emotions and the heart. Her songs, which would later on become instant hits for artists such as: Charlie Cruz and the theme songs for Hispanic soap operas produced by Telemundo such as: 'Amor Descarado' ("El Es Mi Amor") and 'Anita No Te Rajes ("Sólo Su Amor","Cuánto Te Amo Yo"), was the only way to give her complex life and the world around her true meaning.

Her latest album, "Ficha de ajedrez" is a collection of life experiences and a reaction to her surroundings, from the perspective of one who is far away from their native country, in Vicky’s case, Colombia. Each song is a story, where love and disillusion are not the only protagonists: it is where life is captured and its essence paints a picture through powerful words, emotions and music.

"Ficha de ajedrez” was produced and recorded in Miami, Florida and Milan, Italy; and as a true labor of love, it features the finest musicians, arrangers and engineers available working under the direction of the Spanish composer and producer, Rafa Vergara. Mr. Vergara has collaborated with top notch Latin artists: David Bisbal, Paulina, Shaila Durcal, Malu and Tamara, amongst others. With such a great trajectory, only Rafa Vergara could add his magical touch to the stirring acoustic sounds, the sultry words and music of this Colombian songstress, who is highly anticipated to be one of the new artists to watch in 2009.
